SKG is engaged in a structured program to reduce its environmental impact, combining investments in renewable energy, the digitalization of energy consumption, and the expansion of its product offerings to include electric mobility solutions.

SKG’s Commitment to the Energy Sector

In recent years, SKG has significantly expanded its use of energy from renewable sources: the photovoltaic system installed at the Camerano plant produced approximately 700,000 kWh in 2024, covering a quarter of the site’s energy needs, while the new installation planned for Albania will provide over 60% of the plant’s energy consumption, helping to significantly reduce emissions associated with energy supply. In addition to this production, starting in late 2024, electricity purchased in Italy will come exclusively from suppliers that guarantee it is sourced from certified renewable energy sources.

At the same time, SKG has improved operational efficiency by digitalizing its production processes: the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system enables real-time monitoring of production line consumption, identifies inefficiencies, and guides management decisions toward a more rational use of resources.

SKG's emissions

The commitment to climate action also extends to the evolution of our product offerings. In line with the automotive industry’s transition toward electric and hybrid vehicles, SKG has intensified its research and development efforts focused on components for battery thermal management and next-generation HVAC systems. Additionally, the company has begun marketing internally designed electric scooters, with the aim of meeting the growing demand for low-emission urban mobility solutions.

SKG has compiled a comprehensive inventory of its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, applying the international GHG Protocol and ISO 14064 standards. Scope 1 emissions, resulting from the use of natural gas and fleet fuels, amount to 253 tCO₂e (a 4% decrease compared to 2023). Scope 2 emissions, related to purchased electricity, were quantified using market-based and location-based approaches. The implementation of a 100% renewable energy contract starting in November 2024 reduced market-based Scope 2 emissions to 510 tCO₂e (a 25% decrease compared to 2023).

The circular economy is a central pillar of SKG’s approach to sustainability, with a growing commitment to resource efficiency, waste reduction, and the integration of recycled materials into production processes.

Aluminum, which is the primary raw material used in the production of automotive components, is sourced approximately 80% from recycled material, thanks to a well-established supply chain based on extrusions made from scrap and processed in-house. This approach reduces dependence on virgin resources and limits the environmental impacts associated with bauxite mining and primary fusion, two processes characterized by high energy consumption and significant atmospheric emissions.


SKG has begun a process of gradually replacing disposable cardboard inner packaging with reusable plastic containers, a decision that reduces waste generation and improves the durability of the materials used in internal logistics

Waste management reflects the principles of circularity: in 2024, 332,037 kg of waste were generated, a decrease compared to the previous year. Most waste streams are sent for recovery or recycling, with particular attention paid to the management of hazardous waste such as used oil, batteries, contaminated sludge, and electronic components, which are handled exclusively by authorized operators and, in the case of batteries, by specialized consortia.

EDU.CARE BRAND

COBAT CONSORTIUM

EDU.CARE is a brand of Rolly Brush S.r.l., a company within the SKG Group that specializes in the design and manufacture of oral care products. The brand was created with the goal of promoting a responsible lifestyle focused on individual well-being, offering products made from natural raw materials and solutions with a reduced environmental impact. The brand’s philosophy is based on the idea of “educating for care,” encouraging conscious and sustainable behaviors in consumers’ daily choices. Within the Rolly Brush division, EDU.CARE represents the most advanced expression of the Group’s strategy toward products with a lower environmental footprint.


SKG entrusts the management of its used batteries and other lead-containing waste to the specialized consortium COBAT, a nationally recognized organization for the collection, treatment, and recovery of lead-containing waste. The partnership with COBAT ensures full compliance with environmental regulations and guarantees transparent and traceable management of dangerous waste, thereby reducing the environmental impact associated with its disposal. Membership in an accredited consortium reflects SKG’s commitment to circular economy practices and the responsible management of end-of-life materials.

Pollution


SKG manages pollution by adopting a prevention and control-based approach, ensuring full regulatory compliance and careful monitoring of its activities.

In 2024, as in previous years, the company did not exceed any emission thresholds set by the European E-PRTR Registry for air, water, or soil, confirming the absence of significant releases into the environment. A comprehensive review of the Safety Data Sheets has also confirmed only marginal use of substances classified as “dangerous to the environment,” and the absence of substances subject to REACH authorization or included in the SVHC Candidate List.

The Group’s production activities are designed to prevent the release of pollutants and do not generate industrial wastewater: the water used in the processes comes entirely from the public water supply and is discharged as domestic wastewater only, with no significant impact on the quality of surface or groundwater.

Chemical management is based on maximum safety: in 2024, the review of all Safety Data Sheets was completed, confirming only residual use of substances hazardous to the environment. Storage and handling operations are conducted in accordance with the CLP Regulation, with suitable facilities, compliant labeling, and periodic training for operators.
